About Us
A Night at the Opera Trust is a charitable trust dedicated to promoting opera in the Waikato region, especially as part of the offering at our new world-class BNZ Theatre in the heart of Hamilton city.
We aim to build up and financially support opera initiatives, particularly focusing on Te Pae Kōkako The Aotearoa Opera Studio (TANZOS), based at The University of Waikato, as well as local organisations such as St Peter's Cathedral, who contribute much to the musical fabric of the region.
Our inaugural concert, 'Dame Malvina Presents: A Night at the Opera' is showcasing local and international talent, bringing together opera enthusiasts and newcomers alike, whilst highlighting the huge asset that the BNZ Theatre brings to the community.

To Promote and Support Opera
To inspire, promote, and sustain opera and classical music throughout the Waikato by supporting artistic excellence, education, and community participation.We raise and distribute charitable funds to nurture performers, create opportunities for learning, support scholarships and events, and increase access to the performing arts.
Through collaboration with Te Pae Kōkako The Aotearoa Opera Studio (TANZOS), community organisations, and trusted partners, we are committed to ensuring opera remains a vibrant and accessible part of Waikato’s cultural heritage for present and future generations.

We are committed to engaging the community and inspiring a love for opera through annual performances in our beautiful theatre, supporting outreach programmes, and educational initiatives. Our goal is to make opera accessible and enjoyable for all, while nurturing the next generation of artists.
